Milu Park (Elk Park)

With an area of 11 square kilometers, the Milu Park (Elk Park or Dafeng Elk National Nature Reserve) was declared a protected area in 1986. It is the largest wetland park and among the four largest city parks in Beijing. It is was once a deer hunting ground during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Today, it is a captive breeding park for the herds of elk that exist here. The park also has landscaped gardens, forests, palaces, marshes, rivers, and grasslands since ancient times. The Milu Park is a wonderful tourist attraction and the best place to spot elk and other wildlife.
