Mao Zedong was the leader of China’s Communist Party from 1943 until 1976 when he passed away. The building of the Memorial Hall started shortly after his death and it was finished in 1977. The resting place of Mao Zedong covers more than 68,000 square yards of space and is located in the eastern part of Tiananmen Square.
The main gate has the words “Chairman Mao Memorial Hall” written in gold. Once you enter, there are three great halls on the ground floor and memorial rooms on the second floor. You can visit the movie hall to watch a documentary about different leaders throughout China Revolution.
