1933 is an old slaughterhouse in Shanghai and situated at Hongkou District in the city. It is a complex of shops as well as restaurants and a lovely place to visit. The building used to be the base of Shanghai Municipal Council slaughterhouse which happened to be the largest during that period in Shanghai. The elegant steel, concrete, and glass building were constructed in 1933 and it features 26 sky bridges, spiral staircases, four verandas, over 300 Gothic columns, just to mention a few. The central building is dome-shaped with 24 sides and unique geometrical motifs with lattice windows.
