Power Station of Art

Shanghai, China

The Power Station of Art (PSA) is Shanghai’s popular contemporary art museum run by the State. It is designed within the 42,000 square meters area of an old power station. A 165-meters tall chimney of the power station has a permanent exhibition of modern art. But most of the displays in the other exhibition areas keep changing because they reflect the latest development in the art scene; the most significant exhibition being the Shanghai Biennial. Considered a focal point of the urban cultural scene, PSA gives contemporary artists an open platform to showcase their talents and visitors to understand and appreciate different styles in art.
